RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT), an Institute with a difference, was established in the year 2001 by Dr. R N Shetty, a true visionary, a well-known industrialist, philanthropist and an educationalist. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, and is recognized by AICTE. It is an institutional member of ISTE, CSI and ISOI.

RNSIT has received high rating both in virtual domain and on parametrized evaluation platforms. In virtual domain, through word-of-mouth recommendation and feedback in social media, RNSIT has received excellent perception. RNSIT is also successful in rated rankings by various accreditation forums / platforms such as NAAC, NIRF, NBA, etc.

RNSIT is currently headed by Dr. M K Venkatesha as the Principal.

The college is built on a sprawling 160-acre clean-green campus with the state-of-the-art infrastructure comprising of well-ventilated and equipped class rooms, seminar halls (eleven with capacity ranging from 90 to 450 plus), labs catering to the VTU syllabus and beyond, library (both physical and online), excellent sports facilities (basketball court, cricket, throwball, football, volleyball playgrounds, gymnasium, indoor table tennis and shuttlecock courts, etc.), and on-campus amenities such as canteen, hostels, Bank, Book store, ATM, temple, auditorium (1800 seating capacity), etc.

RNSIT is managed by a highly committed management, with a mission to impart quality education to enable graduates to excel in their career. The college offers eight B.E. Programmes, two M.Tech, MCA and MBA Programmes. Nine of our Departments have been recognized by VTU as Research and Development Centers.

Our faculty members are well qualified, motivated and dedicated. The well qualified faculty at RNSIT; comprising of 57 Doctorates, 77 Ph.D. scholars and 157 post graduates from various Indian universities with different domain expertise, is an indication of the institute’s quest for academic excellence.

RNSIT has a highly evolved, structured and time-tested teaching- learning methodology in place. The success of this is evidenced by the following facts:
• College is rated by public as one of the best teaching institutes (among VTU affiliated colleges).
• College is able to attract students of high ranking (in both CET and COMEDK) for enrollment with high percentage of admissions in both UG & PG.

• Every year around 10-15% of students enroll for higher studies in India and at renowned Institutions across the Globe.

We are fortunate to have students of high caliber getting admitted to RNSIT right from its inception and contributing for the present standing of our Institute; currently ranked one among the top five engineering Institutions in Bangalore and top ten among 200+ VTU affiliated colleges. Our students are trained to conduct themselves with dignity and decorum at all times on and off campus.

Results: The results of RNSIT are consistently highest among peer VTU affiliated colleges. Our students are securing a good number of University ranks every year both at UG and PG levels. We have continuously bagged 19, 20, 19 & 19 VTU ranks in the last 4 years. This is a testimonial of the consistent efforts put in by the management, staff & students of RNSIT.

Projects: The college has to its credit a large number of successfully completed KSCST/CSI/ IEEE/Nokia /Bosch/ TI sponsored projects. Further, it is a culture at RNSIT to hold a ‘Project Open House Day’ from every Department, every year to showcase the in-house talent. This witnesses participation from not only final year students but also from juniors.
Our USP is Placements: Our students are highly sought after by leading multinational companies / recruiters (115 companies visited RNSIT in 2020-21 for placement) which is reflected by the placement statistics of 788 offers (2020-21) with an annual pay package of 4.5 lakh rupees. The students are extensively trained in three areas: Soft-skills, Programming and Aptitude tests. Students also have secured High pay packages of 19 Lakhs per annum (LPA) in Amazon, 16 LPA in Value Labs, 13 LPA in Texas Instruments, IT, 14 LPA & Kickdrum, 12.60 LPA etc. Paid Internships of one lakh per month from Adobe and also from Texas Instruments, Maersk, Sap Labs, Hashedln Technology, Byjus, Verzeo, FACE, etc. have been bagged by RNSIT pre-final year students. Internships opportunities at NAL, HAL, DRDO, ISRO, LRDE, GTRE, Honeywell, and also in all top software companies are well utilized by the students of RNSIT.

Enhancing close Industry-Institute Interaction and thrust for product development / patents.

RNSIT has established Centers of excellence to cater to the needs of the concerned departments and also to promote Innovation and entrepreneurship among staff and students. The tools and facilities in these CoEs also address the technology innovation needs of Vision 2035. Some of the current MoUs are with IBM (for exceptional analytics), Techie Aid Valley boot Camp, Industrial Technologies, VI Solutions, Bosch Rexroth, (for training and internships), STUDSAT with ISRO (for student projects), CADD, CISCO Oracle Certification Initiative under MHRD with Ethno Technologies, etc. To bring more flexibility and awareness a ‘Lab on Wheels’ is proposed in the current year. The college also has the distinction of establishing student chapters in each branch such as IEEE, ISOI, SAE, ISA, CSI, ISTE, etc.

We have also brought in the concept of ‘Joy of Engineering’, wherein civil engineering students will enjoy the ‘Joy of Civil Engineering’, CSE students will enjoy the ‘Joy of coding’, etc. so that the demand for change of branch will be zero and the students will enjoy the branches where they have taken admission. The amount of teamwork and commitment we have among our faculty and students has led to a ‘white magic’ wherein anything is possible – from excellent results, innovation to placements.
