  1. When do the Courses begin?
    Medical and Dental Courses are scheduled to begin from 01/08/2008.
    Engineering and B.Arch courses are scheduled to begin from 01/09/2008.

  2. What is the eligibility for the courses?
    For M.B.B.S. & B.D.S.:
    Candidates should have passed the qualifying examination which is 2nd PUC / 10+2 Higher secondary examination or equivalent examination, the last two years of study comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Biology with English as a compulsory subject, must have passed these subjects individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks taken together in PCB. In addition, in the competitive entrance test must have secured not less than 50% marks in PCB.

    In respect of candidates belonging to SC, ST and Karnataka OBC, the marks obtained in PCB taken together in qualifying examination should not be less than 40% and also score not less than 40% in the Competitive Entrance Test.

    For B.E.:
    For General category students the minimum qualification for admission is a pass in the 2nd PUC / 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent qualifying Examination with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM), irrespective of marks secured in PCM subjects in the Competitive Entrance Test. Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects along with chemistry / Biotechnology / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics as optional subjects with English as one of the language of study.

    For SC, ST and Karnataka OBC students the aggregate marks in PCM should be not less than 40% in the qualifying examination, irrespective of marks secured in PCM subjects in the Competitive Entrance Test.

    B. Arch
    A candidate who has passed the qualifying examination (2nd PUC / 10+2 higher secondary or equivalent examination) with Mathematics as one of the subjects along with other subjects or a 10+3 Diploma recognized by central / State Government and having obtained at least 50% marks in aggregate (45% marks in case of SC/ST and Karnataka OBC Category candidates).Further the candidate should have appeared for National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture.

    COMEDK is not conducting any test separately for candidates seeking admission to B.Arch (Architecture Course) as per existing rules.

  3. Are the admissions open only to Karnataka students?
    No, admissions are open to all the students across the country.

  4. Are candidates applying from outside the state of Karnataka eligible to get the benefit of lower eligibility qualifying marks?
    Yes, in the case of SC and ST candidates only

  5. I have finished my PUC/INTER/HSC/+2 a few years ago. Am I eligible for these courses?
    Yes, you can apply for the notified courses, if you fulfill the eligibility requirements as mentioned.

  6. Is there an age limit for the course?
    The candidates must be 17 years as of 31/12/2008 for M.B.B.S. and B.D.S. courses.

  7. Although I am eligible, I am currently enrolled in another course. Will I be permitted to join?
    Yes, you are eligible to join if you have the basic eligibility as mentioned.

  8. I have completed my diploma course. Can I apply to COMEDK and its member colleges for 2nd year / 3rd semester?
    No, this notification is only for admissions to the 1st year/semester in M.B.B.S., B.D.S., and B.E. Thus, you cannot apply for the 2nd Year (lateral entry scheme).

  9. How will I know my test results?
    Test results are intimated to candidates. The results are also published on the web site.

  10. When is the last date to apply?
    Completed application forms must reach the office of COMEDK on or before 10/04/2008. Applications received after the last date will not be accepted

  11. Where should the applications be sent and to whom should it be addressed?
    Applications complete in all aspects must be sent to:

  12. What are the enclosures to be made along with the applications
    COMEDK Application form.

    COMEDK copy of Date of Birth Certificate / Identity Proof in the prescribed form duly attested by the head of the institution where he/she has studied last

    Demand Draft drawn in favour of COMEDK-2008 payable at Bangalore (mention your application number on the back of DD)

    Additional copy of your photograph (mention your application number on the back of the photograph)

  13. I wish to apply for Medical and Engineering courses. Should I apply for each of them separately or can I apply through a single application for both of them?
    You can apply to any/all of Medical, Dental and Engineering courses in a single form. You can indicate your preferences for each of them in the same application form. You have to provide Rs.650 (DD) in case of you taking only MBBS/BDS (PCB) or BE (PCM). In case you are taking all the four subjects MBBS/BDS and BE (PCMB) you have to send a demand draft for Rs 850.

  14. Is there any minimum marks to be scored in COMEDK UGET-2008?
    A candidate is required to secure a minimum of 50% for General category and 40% for those belonging to Schedule Caste / Schedule tribe and other backward Classes of Karnataka in the COMEDK UGET-2007 to be eligible for M.B.B.S.
    For BDS all candidates should secure a minimum of 50%.
    For BE no minimum marks is prescribed but one has to appear for COMEDK Test.

  15. What is the fee structure
    Each COMEDK member institution is required to notify its fee structure as per the consensual agreement with the Government of Karnataka. Upper limit of Rs.3.25 lakhs for Medical, Rs.2.30 lakhs for Dental and Rs.1.25 lakhs for Engineering courses is fixed

  16. Can I send a black & white photograph
    No, the Photograph to be provided has to be in Colour and clear and should not be more than 6 months old. Application with smudged/tampered or hazy photograph will not be accepted.

  17. If I have 5 clarifications in the answer key, then do I send a DD of Rs.100 or Rs.500?
    You have to send a DD of Rs.500. (Rs.100 per clarification) along with the format (Appendix-II of Brochure)

  18. I want to seek clarification of my test score. Should I send a DD for Rs.100/-
    Yes you have to send a DD for Rs.100/- along with the format of seeking test score clarification. (Appendix-III of Brochure)

  19. Would I get a refund for the amount, which I have sent along with my clarification/s?
    You would be entitled for a refund only if your clarification/s is/are upheld by the academic committee or your claim for clarification of test score is upheld.

  20. What is a minority Institution and who is eligible to be admitted under minority Quota?
    Minority institutions are broadly of two types – 1) Religious minority 2) Linguistic minority. The minority status is restricted to Karnataka Candidates only. Minority College is entitled to admit candidates from their own minority group only
